Minister for Home Affairs, Mr. Rajnath Singh will inaugurate a 3-day exhibition-cum-seminar on Defence & Homeland Security Expo-2018, beginning 17th of May under the joint aegis of PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry, DRDO and NSIC here in New Delhi, objectives of which comprise to promote make-in-India in defence manufacturing as well as police modernization. The event would aim to showcase capacities and capabilities of indigenous companies. It would encompass companies providing hardware and software to defence and police forces.  Private security industry too would be participating in the event.

The other objectives of the 3-day mega event also consist of exploring potential of public private partnership in defence and homeland security, up-scaling their roles under Make-in-India and deliberate upon solutions to catalyze their capacity building as also provide a level playing field to MSMEs in defence related manufacturing.

Among other dignitaries that are likely to grace the occasion in the 3-day mega show could be Defence Minister, Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman; MOS, Defence, Home Affairs and MSME, Dr. Subhash Ramrao Bhamre, Mr. Kiren Rijiju, Mr. Hansraj Gangaram Ahir and Mr. Giriraj Singh respectively.

According to PHD Chamber, defence & homeland Security encompasses several dimensions of national focus and relates to safeguarding the external & internal environment of the country from disruptive activities that can potentially lead to disorder, loss of citizen's lives and destruction of public and private property.

The 'Make in India' initiative has fostered new trajectory of growth and is resulting in creating a defence and homeland security ecosystem in India. With the advent of time there has been change in the scenario wherein domestic industry procurements are going to see an exponential rise due to demand created by offsets and the stress on Indigenisation. There is a large expertise in SME sector which needs to be made visible to the Defence/ CAPF/ PMF/ CPO and their procurement agencies.

A curtain raiser on the event was organized at PHD Chamber on 14th March 2018.  The event saw a galaxy of speakers who are buyers as well as end users.  Lt. Gen.
