US SEEKS INDIAN INVESTMENTS THROUGH SELECT USA INVESTMENT SUMMIT, SAYS PATRICK SANTILLO

 

Minister Counselor for Commercial Affairs, Embassy of the USA, Mr. Patrick Santillo on Thursday called upon Indian businessmen to ‘Select USA Investment Summit’ scheduled for 20 – 22 June 2018 at Washington DC as a critical channel to barge into the largest democracy of the world with their investment intent.

 

Addressing an Interactive Session with US Embassy on Doing Business with USA under aegis of PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry here today, Mr. Santillo informed that the Summit was now an annual feature, given its profound success in the last couple of years in terms of attracting global investments to the tune of $71 billion.

 

“Why Select USA for global investments? asked Mr. Santillo, asserting that the entire USA has host of incentives for inbound investments with sound legal system in place and other administrative factors that are effective and transparent than most of other places across the world”.

 

“We are a US$ 18 trillion economy  in which every sector of industrial activities including services has a place for parking and absorbing global investments and therefore, the country is well equipped to soak such investments that would accrue mutual gains for investors and investees”, concluded Mr. Santillo.

 

President, PHD Chamber, Mr. Anil Khaitan in his address reminded the industry that with USA, proposing to subject Chinese pharma exports away to USA at 25% customs duty would provide Indian pharma sector with a great opportunity to accelerate its exports to United States provided its pharma consignments are fairly well treated in terms of exports tariffs.

 

Mr. Khaitan also pointed out that with geo-political shift from Asia Pacific to Indo Pacific region to counter China’s influence in the region would ideally bring both India and USA much closer for enhanced business and economic cooperation adding that if Indian businessmen walk their talk in US in their business operations, the country’s sound legal system will rescue all fair businesses there.

 

Former Secretary, Ministry of External Affaris, Ambassador Pradeep Kapur who was also present on the occasion pointed out saying that the presence of MSMEs product in USA are not even miniscule and even products and processes of large industry are missing in America’s large retail outlets on account of their high standards whereas India’s faculties and talent pool in IT and many other such front are progressively advancing and getting customized in the USA.

 

Among others who were also present on the occasion comprised Consular Officer, Consular Section, Embassy of the United States of America, Mr. Michael Hayes; Regional President, Indo-American Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Yash Kansal; Chairman, International affairs Committee on North Americas and Canada, Mr. Amit Ray and its Co-Chairman, Mr. Sanjay Beswal.
