No.PR-66 August 14, 2018 New Delhi ISA SEEKS INDUSTRY’S COOPERATION FOR SOLAR POWER HARNESSING: UPENDRA TRIPATHY AT PHD CHAMBER Interim Director-General, International Solar Alliance (ISA), Mr. Upendra Tripathy on Tuesday called upon industry to be proactively come forward to work with ISA so that its intended objective of lightening the dark landscapes of the world is served as desired. With public-private-partnership firming up within the ambit of ISA, the vision of Indian Prime Minister Mr. Modi could be achieved in the sense that the poorer lot of world is able to access energy with affordable reach and that too with an ecological sense and environmental purity, he added. Speaking at a 1st Meeting of Global Taskforce of Foundations for which PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry is a convener, Mr. Tripathy reiterated that the ISA would be able to generate alliances of comity of nations to enable it produce electricity to an extent of 1000 GW by way of harnessing solar energy across the world particularly at places where it is required the most in next 10-12 years. Elaborating on resource mobilization for putting up solar facilities to generate solar energy, Mr. Tripathy held that resources would not be constraint just as green and climate bonds are issued by respective governments to achieving objectives for better and green climate, likewise, solar bonds could also be contemplated for resource mobilization for generation of clean energy though funding would not be a problem for solar sector as multilateral agencies such as World Bank and the like are firmly behind the ISA and its objectives. Speaking on the occasion Country Head, United Nations Environment Programme, Mr. Atul Bagai committed to extend the support of his organization towards ISA adding that it would be signing an MoU with Government of Uttar Pradesh to lighten as many as hundreds of villages through solar energy. The MoU is likely to be signed in next few days between the two agencies. In his welcome remarks, President, PHD Chamber, Mr. Anil Khaitan applauded the cause with which the ISA is advancing with full force pointing out that at a time when energy generation through fossil fuel is becoming a subject to debate, generation of solar energy by way of harnessing the sun raises would be ideal and pragmatic.
