Ease of doing business in India is improving year after year and a significant improvement by 9 notches is expected in the forthcoming Ease of Doing Business rankings by the World Bank for the year 2019, said Mr. Rajeev Talwar, President, PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry, in a press statement issued here today.
While sharing the findings of joint report prepared by PHDCCI-KPMG, Mr. Rajeev Talwar said that we expect Ease of Doing Business rankings at around 91 in Doing Business 2019 report.
The report was launched in the 113th Annual Session of PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry by Dr Suresh Prabhu, Hon’ble Union Minister of Commerce & Civil Aviation, Government of India on 28th September 2018 at New Delhi.
Lot of reforms have been observed in Starting a business; Construction permits; Paying taxes and Trading across borders and Improvement is expected in the rankings in these parameters in the forthcoming Doing Business Report 2019, said Mr. Talwar.
However, there is a need to improve further the business climate in India particularly around construction approvals, cross border trade, land administration and contract enforcement, he said.
There must be enhanced transparency in rules and processes around land acquisition and business approvals, said Mr. Talwar.
Going ahead, the government must introduce coordinated clearance systems for construction permits etc, to facilitate information exchange between various line departments and industry, said Mr. Talwar.
We are confident that continuous reforms in EODB would improve rankings to the level of 50 in the next few years, said Mr. Talwar
