SMART DELHI WILL BE A DREAM SO LONG AS BAD POLITICS STRANGLES IT: SISODIA AT PHDCCI
So long as bad politics continues to besiege the national capital and encircle it with malafide intent of law makers, Delhi is unlikely to acquire a classification of Smart City with a smarter governance, pronounced the Deputy Chief Minister, Government of NCT of Delhi, Mr Manish Sisodia.
Inaugurating an event on Dilli : Kal, Aaj Aur Kal – Towards a Sustainable and Smarter Delhi under aegis of PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI) here today, Mr Sisodia suggested saying that smart governance is the core solution to develop smart city in which single authority is put in place to take decisions without any political ill will to provide better life and better living to its citizens.
Bad politics with intent malaise is the reality of the day at powerful quarters which need to be disrupted with the cooperation of public and institutions both public and private so that the prevailing status-quo a challenged and replaced with a responsible and accountable system be it even the office of LG, said Mr Sisodia.
Multiple agencies and several regulatory bodies in Delhi such as DDA, Police, LG office, municipal corporations and host of other such bodies have been taking decisions for the people of Delhi with their own whims and fancies, resulting chaos for Delhi, pointed out Mr Sisodia adding that on top of these the Centre also governance the Delhi with an elected government for the State in place.
“There is hardly any coordination among these agencies for the welfare of Delhites and each attempt to try its ways to rule the Delhi. In such circumstances converting the present landscape of Delhi into a Smarter City would not be possible with Smart Governance until the multiple authorities cease to govern the Delhi with shedding their political malice”, concluded the Deputy Chief Minister.
Speaking on the occasion Industry Minister, Government of NCT of Delhi, Mr Satyendra Jain endorsed what Mr Sisodia observed adding that in Delhi, there is no dearth of smart people as their sole intention is to squeeze the public resources for nurturing vested interests.
In his welcome remarks, Sr. Vice President, Mr D K Aggarwal urged the authorities to take a holistic approach to making Delhi Smarter with minimum governance in which the involvement of multiple agencies is minimized so that Delhi becomes an ideal place to live in with cleaned traffic, cleaner air and better civic amenities.
