Smart Manufacturing need of the hour to boost Manufacturing Sector in India

Mr Deepak Pahwa, Chair, Industry Committee, PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry, while addressing the Industry 4.0 Global Summit, here today, said that Smart Manufacturing was the need of the hour to boost the manufacturing sector in India. According to him Industry 4.0 which encompasses a promise of a new industrial revolution—one that marries advanced manufacturing techniques with the Internet of Things to create a digital manufacturing enterprise, was no longer a fad but a reality.

On this occasion a Knowledge Report jointly prepared by the PHDCCI and Grant Thornton on “Industry 4.0: Transforming the Manufacturing Landscape”, was also released.

The importance of re-skilling the India workforce and Engineers in India was also brought out by the speakers. DIGITAL TOOLS FOR THE FUTURE FACTORY and INTERNATIONAL PRACTICES IN IMPLEMENTATION AND POLICY DESIGN FOR INDUSTRY 4.0 were the other areas of deliberations at the Summit.
