HOUSTON SEEKS INVESTMENTS FROM INDIA INC. FOR ITS REBUILT: MAYOR OF HOUSTON AT PHD CHAMBER
Houston on Wednesday called upon India Inc. to become its partner in reshaping and rebuilding the state with its investments prowess as it is one of the few States in America that provides the best of returns on outside investments with complete investment protection landscape, according to its Mayor, Mr Sylvester Turner.
Addressing an Interactive Session with members of PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI) here today which was hosting a Delegation from Houston, USA under the leadership of its Mayor, however, explained that with billions of dollars fresh investments, Houston is proposing its complete transformation in terms of its infrastructure and other such attributes in the spirit of public-private-partnership as also through the help of multilateral funding agencies.
In this attempt and effort, the Mayor who presided over the Interactive Session asked India Inc. to partner with its counterpart at Houston and collaborate with them including the Government of Houston so that the intended objective is attained with the confluence of inbound and outbound Capital and technology and tools and equipment accompanying the two.
“Houston provides for the climate that is completely conducive and amiable to industry and investment with best of investment protection climate and is the only place in the whole of American federalism that the investors should not escape and therefore, a right opportunity is arising to cash in on emerging climate for outside investments”, pointed out Mr Turner.
Some of the areas identified for joint cooperation between India and Houston consisted of sectors such as hydrocarbons, construction, renewable, healthcare, infrastructure – roads, airports, and sea ports including railways and waterways.
The other speakers that were present on the occasion endorsing the viewpoint expressed by the Mayor of Houston comprised Director, International Trade, Greater Houston Partnership, Mr Josh Davis; Board of Director, METRO, Mr Sanjay Ramabhadran.
India Inc. was represented on the occasion by Chair, Hydrocarbons Committee, PHDCCI, Mr Sanjeev Agrawal and its Principal Director, Dr Ranjeet Mehta.
