India can encash demographic dividend if the youth are fit, energetic, and happy: Dr D K Aggarwal, President – PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry
Students and teachers associated with the skill development programmes of the PHD Family Welfare Foundation enthralled the audience with their colourful cultural program delivering a social message of fitness and health held at the PHD House here today.
The cultural program ‘Hunar Unlimited: Fit India 2020’ featured the beneficiaries of skill development programmes of the PHD Family Welfare Foundation (PHDFWF) and Sonalika Social Development Society, an NGO, in different schools in the city.
Addressing the gathering comprising of business persons, NGOs, teachers, and students, Dr D K Aggarwal, President, PHD Chamber, said fitness is the key, if India wants to work its demographic dividend to its advantage. Underlining the importance of the theme of the programme, fitness, and health, in the building of a new India as envisaged by the Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, Dr Aggarwal said it was heartening to note that the PHDFWF was making efforts to make Fit India a mass movement.
Such a program helps to make Fit India a mass movement, which in turn would help the country to encash its demographic dividend, said Dr Aggarwal.
A sizeable majority of India is young, and it is crucial that it remains fit and energetic along with being happy, added Dr Aggarwal.
Welcoming the Chief Guest, Smt Yogita Singh, Vice President, BJP Delhi & Member, Committee on minimum wages, Ministry of Labour, Government of India, Ms Anuradha Goel, Chairperson, PHD Family Welfare Foundation, said that the foundation was working with children through its skill development centre. The Foundation imparted them not only vocational skills but also provided them a holistic environment and motivated them to participate in different missions like the Swatch Bharat, launched by the Prime Minister, she said.
The foundation, with the cooperation of Sonalika Social Development Society and with the help of donors, reached to provide medical assistance to the needy in their localities through mobile medical units, said Ms Goel. Hospitals attached to the foundation treat patients referred to them, she said.
Ms Surbhi Mittal, Chairperson, SSDS, said she was happy to note that the students were engaged in celebrating and promoting the message of Fit India. Fitness is about leading a lifestyle that makes people fully active and energetic and mentally happy. She urged people to invest time in attaining physical fitness and mental well-being and asked the youth to push mass movements on fitness and health.
The cultural program was followed by a musical rendition, ‘Six Seasons of Krishna’ by renowned artist Ms Vidhi Sharma.
