Gujarat State Chapter, PHDCCI organised a Webinar on Water Harvesting – “Steps Towards an Atma Nirbhar Bharat” on 22nd January 2022 in Virtual Mode.
The eminent guests present were Mr. Setu Shah, Founder, Sujalaam, Ahmedabad, Mr. Mohanish Jaju, Marcom Manager, Green Water-Revolution Pvt. Ltd., Pune, Mr. Ashish Desai, Chair, Gujarat State Chapter, PHDCCI, Mr. Vivek Seigell, Assistant Secretary-General, PHDCCI and the session was moderated by Mr. Dharmendra Joshi, Advisor, Gujarat State Chapter, PHDCCI.
While welcoming the guests Shri. Ashish Desai mentioned that “Water is a scarce resource. Too much water is wasted as it is free. We have failed to preserve water in the best ways possible and hence are facing problems. We as individuals and as an industry need to join in united efforts to save water, not only for us but also for our next generation. Every Drop saved is important, every drop saved is critical”.
Shri Setu Shah said that India is a rain-rich country and receives the highest average rainfall per sq. km in the world. However, we are still the 13th most water stressed country in the world. He said water in India is not in its pristine condition because of over-extraction, mismanagement, leakage, wastage, and contamination. He stressed it is important for each one of us to change our Attitude towards water sustainability and emphasized harvesting, recharge, recycling and reuse as the most important steps to ensure that.
Shri Mohahish Jaju mentioned that there are new scientifically tested technologies to ensure maximum amount of waste water including domestic as well as industrial is treated, even with a minimal amount of electricity, which will improve the quality and quantity of groundwater, reduce the electricity consumed for drawing groundwater, and preserve drinking water for all human needs throughout the year.
While thanking the experts and participants for joining the Webinar, Shri Vivek Seigell emphasized that as individuals we need to look for every opportunity to save water not only in our own homes but also in our residential streets and area.
The Webinar ended on the note that every individual needs to realise that water is not free. Mother Earth has been working for millions of years to provide us the rainwater every year and if we want to become Atam Nirbhar Bharat, it should be our constant endeavour to judiciously utilise 100% water available and not waste even a drop.
