PHD Chamber, AYUSH Committee organized a webinar on Global Prospects of Unani system of Medicines on 31st August 2022.
The webinar was graced with the presence of Chief Guest Prof. Asim Ali Khan, Director General, CCRUM, Ministry of AYUSH, Govt. of India and Guest of Honour Dr. M.A. Qasmi, Advisor, (Unani) Ministry of AYUSH, Govt. of India.
The webinar was also joined by Mr. Pradeep Multani, President, PHDCCI & Chairman, Multani Pharmaceuticals Limited, Padma Bhushan Vd. DevendraTriguna, Patron of AMAM, All India Ayurvedic Congress and Ayurveda Mahasammelan, Dr. Rajiv Rai, Chair, AYUSH Committee & Head Research, Dabur India Limited, Dr. Santosh Joshi, Co-Chair, AYUSH Committee & Sr. General Manager, (R&D) Hamdard Laboratories India and Dr. Ghazala Javed, Research officer, (Unani) Scientist-IV, CCRUM, Ministry of AYUSH, Govt. of India.
While welcoming the guests Mr. Pradeep Multani highlighted that Unani system of medicine has been accepted worldwide because it is affordable, easily accessible and free from severe side effects. He mentioned that Unani system has an exceptional potential to become a Global Healthcare System and it has to be strengthened worldwide by the efforts of Government health policy makers and agencies to ensure its overall up gradation, standardization and improvement, in order to provide a promising medical health care system in the current challenging diseases.
Dr. Rajiv Rai mentioned that the Unani system of medicine is practiced in various countries and there is rising demand and acceptance of unani medicine has increased rapidly. He said the strength of the system is in its holistic and individualistic approach to health promotion, disease prevention and treatment. Dr. Rai said Unani System of Medicine offers treatment of diseases related to all the systems and organs of the human body.
Padma BhushanVd. DevendraTriguna said the unani system of medicine has played an important role and created its demand and popularity worldwide. He also mentioned that Ayurveda and Unani can become a popular traditional system of medicine. He further also urged industry to develop better quality of medicine for getting popular.
Prof. Asim Ali Khan mentioned that the unani system of Medicine offers treatment of diseases related to all the systems and organs of the human body. The treatments for chronic ailments and diseases of skin, liver and reproductive systems, immunological and lifestyle disorders have been found to be highly effective and acceptable. He said that the unani system of medicine believes in providing quality of health to everyone. The growing demand and acceptance for the traditional system of medicine is increasing worldwide. The global pandemic has led to an increase in demand for immunity booster products that helped in building overall immunity of any individual. The Ministry of AYUSH has taken several measures and published guidelines during the covid period. He mentioned that global prospects are based on national standards. He said that the CCRUM council has signed various MoU and promoted the unani system of medicine in various countries. We need a robust mechanism and a holistic approach is certainly needed for taking the unani system to the next level.
Dr. M.A. Qasmi said that the unani system of medicine is popular and known globally and it is safe and effective for modern treatment. He mentioned that unani is the safest treatment which is highly acceptable and practiced in India. Dr. Qasmi said that the world is progressing and there’s a rising demand for unani medicine worldwide. He further mentioned that the unani system of medicine has potential to become a global healthcare provider in the world.
Dr. Santosh Joshi mentioned that demand for traditional medicine has increased rapidly during the recent years. He also talked about various initiatives taken by Hamdard Laboratories imparting education and promoting the unani system of medicine. Dr. Joshi said the unani system of medicine has tremendous potential and it is already globally recognized, as it originated from the ancient Greek system of medicine.
Dr. Ghazala Javed shared a brief presentation and talked about the importance of traditional medicine. She mentioned that 80% of the world’s population use traditional medicine to meet their primary healthcare needs. She highlighted that India is the world leader in the unani system of medicine. She also showcased various initiatives taken by CCRUM council in promoting the unani system and through drug standardization research programs. The council has recently upgraded laboratories and is actively participating in various activities through its peripheral institutes for promoting the unani system of medicine.
Dr. Rajiv Rai gave a formal vote of thanks to the Chief Guest and other eminent speakers for sharing their valuable inputs on how we can promote and uplift the unani system of medicine globally.
