Interactive Session & Exhibition on Bhutanese Agro-based Products organised by PHDCCI to highlight the trade relations and business opportunities between India and Bhutan
PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry in collaboration with Bhutan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) and SWITCH-Asia, EU organized the “Exhibition on Bhutanese Agro Based Products” on 31st August, 2022 at PHD House, New Delhi.
H.E. Ambassador Major General Vetsop Namgyel, Royal Bhutanese Embassy, Delhi, India, cherished the bilateral relations between the Himalayan kingdom of Bhutan and Republic of India which have been traditionally close and share a special relationship. He mentioned that leaders of both the countries have adopted a policy of maintaining genuine friendship and trust. Besides sharing a long border, India and Bhutan also share deep cultural links. Buddhism has played an influential role in cementing traditional ties between people in both the nations, said Major General Vetsop Namgyel.
Mr. Sangay Dorji, Secretary General, Bhutanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, appreciated the exhibition which is an indication of exemplary ties and cooperative relationships between two countries which has led to the road of prosperity for both the nations. He said that a lot can be learned from the cooperation of both people and governments when together work in redesigning the economies. With the help of India Bhutan can adopt transformational changes and restore its status.
Mr.Pradeep Multani, President, PHDCCI, said that India and Bhutan are close neighbours and share cultural, economic and bilateral relations and have supported each other in the times of COVID. He also mentioned that Bhutan provides a market for Indian commodities and is a destination for Indian Investment. Regular cultural exchanges take place between both the countries . One of the basic objectives of this cooperation is to enhance people to people exchange in the cultural field.
Mr. Pranav Poddar ,Co-Chair, PHDCCI South Asia Committee, talked about the strong bilateral ties between both the countries. He mentioned that a vibrant exchange between India and Bhutan is the basis of our bilateral trade and with this partnership we both have a long way to go.
Mr. Laurent Le Danois, Team Leader Cooperation Section, Delegation of EU to India and Bhutan, highlighted that Bhutan is a vibrant nation and has immense potential of micro SMEs that offers varied opportunities for business and employment generation. He encouraged both the countries to work in this direction for more progressive growth.
Mr Vishal Yadav, PHDCCI Rajasthan Chapter Convener -Alwar District with special focus on Neemrana, Bhiwadi, Behror, Ghilot and nearby industrial Areas and Executive Director, Malsters & Blenders India (P) Ltd., attended as he is exploring possibilities of JV with Bhutanese Companies.
A Special Certificate of Appreciation was awarded to 2 initiatives, namely, My Pahadi Dukan and HT India for their contribution in marketing the Bhutanese products globally.
