PHDCCI organises University-Industry meet to boost R&D and employment in the country

 

University-industry linkages can provide a strong footing to boost India to Viksit Bharat@2047, said Dr. Vandana Kalia, Scientist “F”, DSIR, Ministry of Science and Technology, GoI, at PHDCCI “Round Table Discussion on Strengthening University-Industry Linkages for Promotion of Innovation and Employment”

 

Industry should share their problem statements with academia to bridge the gap between academia and industry, said Dr. Vandana Kalia in her address. I congratulate PHDCCI and MSP for bringing Industry and Academia together to boost the economy, she said.

 

PHDCCI organized a “Round Table Discussion on Strengthening University-Industry Linkages for Promotion of Innovation and Employment” on Wednesday, 18th September 2024, PHD House, New Delhi.

 

PHDCCI has been making significant strides in supporting the policies and efforts of the government in strengthening university-industry linkages for catalyzing innovation, creating employment, and propelling trade and industry, said Shri Sanjeev Agrawal, President, PHDCCI.

 

To aid employability, there is a need to bridge the skill gap between industry requirements and university skilling process. Hence, university-industry linkages gain importance, especially in the development of modern technology, said Shri Deepak Pahwa, Senior Managing Committee Member, PHDCCI.

 

The collaboration of industry-academia will spur the commercialization of university research and product innovations. We appreciate the continued Government handholding for creation of a policy ecosystem to boost value based innovations, said Dr. Ranjeet Mehta, CEO and Secretary General, PHDCCI.

 

It is imperative that technological advancements and innovations accelerate manufacturing to propel economic growth in the coming times. Hence, it is essential that the country works towards developing strong university-industry linkages to sustain the growth momentum, said Dr SP Sharma, Chief Economist|DSG, PHDCCI.

 

Prof (Dr) Suraksha Gupta, Founder, MSP Research Center and Professor, University of the Arts, London; Prof (Dr) Kavita Sharma, President, MSP Research, India Chapter and Professor, Delhi School of Economics, University of Delhi, Delhi, Prof (Dr) Sangeeta Khorana, Professor of International Trade Policy, Aston Business School, Aston University; Professor Diana Gregory-Smith, Professor of Marketing & Sustainability, Newcastle University Business School, Newcastle University, United Kingdom and Dr Klara Scheurenbrand, Assistant Professor, ESSCA Business School, France also participated in the discussion.

 

PHDCCI released a report on “Investment patterns and preferences of Indian retail investors: COVID as an Influencer,” jointly prepared by PHDCCI and JIMS, Rohini, during the session.

 

The event was attended by delegates from industry, esteemed universities and research institutions.
