PHDCCI submits suggestions to Chair, NHAI
A delegation from PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry met Dr. Sukhbir Singh Sandhu, Chair, NHAI on 17th December 2019 at NHAI Corporate Office in New Delhi and submitted their suggestions for fast tracking the Roads and Highways projects.
The delegation submitted following suggestions for fast tracking Roads and Highways projects to Chair, NHAI:
For coordination among various agencies involved in road projects, a Project Monitoring Group should be formed at the centre, having representation from Inter Ministerial & relevant departments (Centre & State) to evaluate the viability & sustainability of the different Infrastructure projects based on area specific needs and evaluate which model to apply.
After arbitration awards have been awarded by Dispute Review Boards (DRB), it should not be challenged routinely and to be reviewed by an empowered committee in the concerned Ministry in the interest of saving time and cost.
FIDIC contract conditions which are internationally followed to be implemented without dilution & value engineering concepts should be encouraged.
Suitable directions can be issued to Govt. departments /PSUs which are not implementing NITI Aayog guidelines for paying 75% Arbitration Award amounts.
PHDCCI delegation also invited Dr Sukhbir Singh Sandhu, IAS, Chair, NHAI to address the delegates in the Conference on “Arbitration Norms for Infrastructure Sector” scheduled on 8th January 2020, PHD House, New Delhi.
Dr. D K Aggarwal, President PHDCCI has appreciated the work done by NHAI and has expressed his satisfaction on the projects undertaken and completed by NHAI.
Going ahead, we look forward to the fast tracking of Roads and Highways projects to further improve the Ease of Doing Business in the country, said Dr D K Aggarwal.
