No.PR-246 September 10, 2020 New Delhi Digitalization is the need of the hour for making MSMEs Aatma Nirbhar With the objective to guide the SMBs through the new mantra to “Recover, Respond, and Thrive”, PHD Chambers of Commerce and Industry in partnership with Amazon Internet Services Private Limited organized a webinar on ‘SMBandh – A Partnership to Unlock Growth and Opportunities for SMBs’. Mr. Harshad Satam, Head, SMB Business Amazon Internet Service Private Limited while sharing insights on the different offerings by AWS as well as how the company’s solutions make it easier and simpler for their customers. Mr. Amardeep Vishwakarma, CTO, Indian Express Online Media Services discussed the journey from server to cloud by cost-saving and controlling the services of the cloud. He cited scalability, cost, maintenance, disaster recovery, and faster set-ups as their reasons to migrate to the cloud3. It is important to understand what to migrate, how to migrate, and where to migrate depending on the services and goal of using the services. Dr. D K Aggarwal, President, PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry in his presidential address deliberated about the importance of MSME that is one of the building blocks of the Indian Economy. With the clarion call for Self-Reliant India, MSME needs to revise its business models and strategies to come to the forefront of the churning of the economy. Dr. Aggarwal mentioned that with Industry 4.0 looming over the global commerce scenario, many enterprises and especially SMEs are experimenting with unprecedented strategies in terms of operations, technological adoption, or their overall business management. Digitization has become the need for the hour for adoption and, cloud computing has proven to be one such means that is enabling the MSMEs to take the leap of virtualization faster and better. It not only helps in equalizing data accessibility but also ensures adequate safety to the same. Dr. D K Aggarwal highlighted that the COVID-19 pandemic has been a wake-up call to many enterprises that were yet to shift to the world of virtualization. However, with support from many vendors, they are overcoming that struggle as well. No fast production, but production by masses needs to be the slogan in times to come. Mr. D P Goel, Co-Chair, MSME Committee PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry discussed that COVID-19 has given us numerous opportunities to learn and adopt newer technologies for effective time management. He assured that PHD Chamber is there for the service of the industry and, we stand in support with our key industry members and government bodies.
