MSME will gain heavily because of the government policies of providing collateral security to the loans taken by the entrepreneurs, mentioned Smt. Locket Chatterjee, Hon’ble MP, LokSabha – Hoogly, West Bengal, Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) in the session organized by PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry on ‘ATMANIRBHAR BHARAT – Way Forward’ Smt. Locket Chatterjee said that the dream of our Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi towards Atma Nirbhar Bharat will prove to be the foundation of a country the recent future will be the driving force, of not only the economy, but also of the way the world thinks. The young generation of India is the generation of Sankalp to make India a self-reliant country. We have seen that this pandemic becomes a turning point for the upcoming generation for an Atma Nirbhar Bharat, said Smt. Locket Chatterjee. I believe that the economic empowerment of women is the most viable solution to integrate women into the developmental goals of the nation. Women have played a pivotal role in shaping our society and, now it’s the time to up-skill them with newer technologies as the first step towards building a self-reliant India. Atma Nirbhar Nari will make Atma Nirbhar Bharat, said Smt. Locket Chatterjee. She shared that India is already moving towards building self-reliance in the fields of solar equipment, aviation, defense, and medical equipment, among others. But COVID-19 has proved that we must be prepared for any kind of disaster in the future. Smt. Locket Chatterjee mentioned that the Ministry of Defence has prepared a list of 101 items for which there will be an embargo on the import beyond the timeline indicated against them. This is a big step towards self-reliance in defence and opportunity to manufacture the items in the negative list by using their design and development capabilities for adapting technology designs and meet the requirements of the armed force. India is moving towards creating its Raffle in years to come as well. Mentioning about the agriculture sector, she shared that the farmers are getting the money transferred to their accounts and are directly getting pensions and other facilities. Various programs announced by the Central Government are expected to be a game-changer for the upliftment of the agriculture eco-system. She also discussed the initiatives undertaken for providing loans to street vendors; making coal and mining sectors more competitive and opening methane and oxide to local tenders and upscaling aerospace engineering, manufacturing, and repairing. She shared that police and army cantons are already selling only made in India products. The skilling of migrant workers is the priority of the government and, we want to skill them further and help them to contribute significantly towards a self-reliant India. She added that tribal and backward areas have huge scope to produce their goods that will make them self-reliant. The government is taking bold steps at the policy level to underline its serious intent. She said that education has a vital role in accomplishing the dream of Atma Nirbhar Bharat. Students must be skilled and trained for the job of the future. They must be trained to be job creators, not job seekers. Dr. D K Aggarwal, President, PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry in his presidential remarks deliberated about our Hon’ble Prime Minister’s clarion call ,of building an Atma Nirbhar Bharat, in these times is a game changer towards the development of the nation. For PHD Chamber, making the nation Atma Nirbhar has become the focal point. Being Atma Nirbhar means becoming an active participant and trusted partner to the global supply chain. We need to add value and create a movement for global to vocal. We have to support make in India products, the Indian industry, promoting exports, making India a manufacturing hub, getting lots of FDIs, and promoting India as a favorable destination for investments and travel, among others. We have to work towards ease of doing business and reduce the cost of the business in the nation, said Dr. Aggarwal. He highlighted that MSME needs to play a pivotal role and needs to be streamlined for being a Self- Reliant nation. Mr. Sanjay Aggarwal, Sr. Vice President, PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry while deliberation about the role of MSME towards the nation building mentioned that it’s one of the most employment generating sector with a high share in India’s total export. For every rupee of export and every rupee of investment, the number of jobs generated in MSME is far higher than that in other enterprises. He appreciated the steps initiated by the Government is focusing on MSMEs and the efforts undertaken by the government in promoting ease of doing business. He suggested that this effort needs to be taken at the district level in convention to a one-district one-product scheme. He explained that every district recognizes each area of strength, identify strong areas of manufacturing for the MSMEs, and then work together. This will help generate positive competition among the district and businesses. He also lauded the New Education Policy; he mentioned that the center and state governments need to come together for implementing it successfully. He highlighted the need for skill development of the young workforce so that they participate actively in the economic development and upscale their jobs and growth. He discussed the need to focus on Women Entrepreneurship in the micro and MSME sectors. He also appreciated the steps and initiatives undertaken by the government in healthcare, pharmaceutical, solar energy and, indigenous production of defence items is a welcome step towards Atma Nirbhar Bharat. Mr. Pradeep Multani, Vice President, PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry in his concluding remarks mentioned that the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry is committed to make India a USD 5 Trillion economy, doubling farmers income, attracting FDIs, generate employment, and make each Indian rich and prosperous. He suggested that India needs to focus on further enhancing ease of doing business at the district levels. He also suggested simplification of application form for attaining licenses and one-time registration for industry and trade. He mentioned that’ Inspector Raj’ needs to end for effective smoothing of businesses at ground level. The central and state government should ensure the reforms reach the grass-root level and it should consider introducing reforms that reduce the regulatory burden on manufacturing and trade.
