AYUSH Committee, PHDCCI organized a webinar on Sickness to Wellness through AYUSH System. The eminent speakers of the webinar were Dr. D.B.A Narayana, Chief Scientific Officer, Ayurvidye Trust, Bangalore, Prof Anand K Chaudhary, Professor & Head, Department of Rasa Shastra and Bhaishjya Kalpana (Ayurvedic Pharmaceutics) at Faculty of Ayurveda, Institute of Medical Sciences, BHU, Varanasi, Dr. Harish Kumar Verma, President, Best Ayurveda Limited, Toronto, Canada and Dr. Harsh Nigam, Sr. Homoeopathic Physician, From Kanpur.
Mr. Pradeep Multani welcomed all eminent speakers for joining the webinar and mentioned that modern medicine has recognized the rejuvenating and anti-aging properties of a few vitamins and other molecules while it largely ignores the need to stay young and disease free for years together. AYUSH systems have gone a long way in taking care of living disease free for years together due to the natural molecules in them. He also said that we must remember the basic principle in medicine which is “prevention is better than cure’.
Mr. Arvind Varchaswi highlighted about benefits of AYUSH system of medicine. He also talked about the lifestyle disorder diseases and Ayurveda has potential for prevention from these diseases. He mentioned that Ayurveda provides better solution in the forms of proper dietary management, lifestyle advises, Panchakarma like detoxification and bio-purification procedures and rejuvenation therapies.

Prof. Thakar also briefed about the importance of Rutu, Kshetra, Ambu and Bija. He further explained in detail about the various chakrapani like Vyadhibalavirodhatvam which is biological defence power of the body to fight against the on-going afflicted disease and Vyadhi- utpada pratibandhkatvam which is to prevent the future development of disease. He has also mentioned about the ongoing protocol development for mucormycosis by their team and mentioned that they will soon come out with paper.
Dr. D.B.A Narayana mentioned that after industrialization the life of an individual is changed where health is not considered as priority but in Ayurveda health and well-being of an individual is the prime important thing. He also said that the journey was started in 1992 in US which resulted in dietary education and supplement act in force. Mentioning about the covid times, he said that AYUSH system and Rasayana have a huge role to play where one needs to focus on preventive, protective health. He further mentioned to explore the integrated human healthcare system.
Speaking about sickness to wellness Prof Anand K Chaudhary briefed about the holistic human approach and disease specific approach. He further mentioned about various doctrines of ayurvedic medicines including promotion of health, preservation of healthy status, eradication of disease, maintainance of mental health, spiritual health, dosha balance, Dinacharya and Ratricharya. He has also mentioned that the natural segment in India’s personal care market is estimated to reach INR 18,500 crore which is 41% of the total personal care market. He has further mentioned that the ayurvedic doctrines and medicines may answer problems in health sector on accounts of physical, mental, social and spiritual needs of global citizen.
Dr. Harish Kumar Verma, President, Best Ayurveda Limited, Toronto, Canada said that each system of medicine has its own limits. He also urged the Government to allowing allopathic doctors to prescribe basic Ayuvedic medicines, as this boost the entire system and will further help in increasing the use of Ayurveda medicines in India and abroad. He further mentioned about modern practise based on the scientific diagnosis and why integration of Ayurveda and Modern Medicine is important and could play a vital role in AYUSH system of medicine.
Dr. Harsh Nigam, (MBBS,MD) Sr. Homoeopathic Physician shared a brief presentation and talked about the Hahnemann’s concept of Health. Dr. Nigam said that the regulatory processes are more at the physiological level and are being managed well by allopathic medicines. He mentioned Modern medicine has many points of contact with Homoeopathic medication. Dr. Nigam also talked about a holistic approach treats the symptoms of illness as well as looking for the underlying cause of the illness. An illness or disease is viewed as an imbalance in the body’s systems.
Dr. Ashok Khanna, Former President, PHD Chamber thanked the entire eminent panellist for sharing their views and insight about the significant role of the Indian systems of medicine. He further talked about Mainstreaming of AYUSH, which seeks to provide accessible, affordable and quality healthcare to the rural population.
