TELEMEDICINE A BOON
Health is one of the core pillars of human development and it is a key indicator in assessing well-being and capabilities. Access to comprehensive, quality health care services is important for promoting and maintaining health, preventing and managing disease.
PHD Rural Development Foundation has partnered with Rotary Club of Roorkee and Tehri Hydro Development Corporation India Ltd., Rishikesh to provide holistic health care services to 15 villages in Pratapnagar and Jakhanidhar block of Tehri Garhwal through Mobile Medical “Sehat Van”. The launch of the mobile health van was done virtually on 28th June 2021 by Rtn Shekhar Mehta, Rotary International President Elect and Mr. R Vishnoi, Director Technical, THDCIL in presence of Mr Sanjay Bhatia, Chairman, PHDRDF; Mr. Saurabh Sanyal, Secretary General, PHD Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Dr. Kadambari, CEO, PHDRDF, PDG. Rtn Hemant K Arora, RC Midtown and other members of Rotary club and PHDRDF.
Mr Bhatia highlighted the significance of the project that also introduces Sehat health card, a new initiative of recording health data digitally. It will help register the patient related health information and save the information like patient history, symptoms, diagnosis etc for easy and future reference. More than 95 participants joined the inauguration ceremony along with representatives from Rotary club, THDC and PHD Rural Development Foundation.
The aim of the project is to reach the un-reach and provide healthcare services in the difficult terrain of Tehri region and align with the goal of National Health Mission, Government of India in improving the availability and access to quality health care by people, especially by those residing in rural areas, the poor, women and children. Screening, diagnosis and treatment along with medicine will be provided to the patients as part of the project. Nearly 12000 people are expected to benefit from the project that will provide generic health camps with special focus on Non-Communicable Diseases (NCD) including Diabetes, Hypertension, Cardiac problem and/or oncology through on- ground health camps as well as tele-medicine consultation with team of specialist.
