PHDCCI Hosts Interactive Session with Shri Harsh Malhotra, Hon’ble Minister of State for Corporate Affairs and Road Transport & Highways Government of India
Under Hon’ble PM Modi’s leadership the world’s view of India has changed, this reflects India’s strong global presence, his vision of making India a developed economy by 2047 and moving from 11th to 5th position, as on date, is commendable, said, Shri Harsh Malhotra, Hon’ble Minister of State for Corporate Affairs and Road Transport & Highways, Government of India, today while addressing the Managing Committee Members of PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry at PHD House, New Delhi.
He further added that our goal is to make India the third-largest economy in the world in the next few years, largely contributed by trade and industry and in this MSMEs will play a pivotal role. We need to establish a balance between the acts and the practicality of EODB. In the last 10 years, there has been significant progress, we’ve gone from 68 airports to 152, and compared to the 12-13 kms of road built per day before 2014, we are now building 38 km per-day today. These roads are not just made of concrete but are vital connections between developed states and rural areas. The focus should be on bringing products from rural areas to cities, not the other way around.
Speaking further the Hon’ble Minister added, the Vision 2047 of road and transport includes objectives like, ensuring high-speed corridors within 100-150 km of any citizen, positioning India in the world, with the highest density of high-speed corridors, and connecting underdeveloped regions with high-speed corridors to reduce logistic costs.
The Prime Minister’s efforts and vision for the development of the Northeast have been commendable. Previously, North East’s trade potential wasn’t being utilized for the country’s benefit he informed that under the leadership of Hon’ble PM Modi, each minister is now mandated to visit the North Eastern states once every 6-8 months. Further, Bhoomi Rashi portal have also made the Land acquisition easy, and digitisation is playing a major role in it. The Hon’ble Minister further requested PHDCCI to provide additional recommendations for the growth of industry and trade, and this meeting will help us understand the chamber’s demands and identify areas for improvement in trade and industry, concluded the Hon’ble Minister.
