CPI inflation stoked by high food prices: PHDCCI

CPI inflation for the month of October 2024 is majorly stoked by the high food prices raising from 8.4% in the month of September 2024 to 9.7% in the month of October 2024, said Mr. Hemant Jain, President, PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

High food inflation in the month of October 2024 is mainly due to increase in prices of vegetables, fruits and oils and fats, said Mr. Hemant Jain.

Over the past few months, overall inflation has been rising from 5.4% in the month of September 2024 to 6.2% in the month of October 2024, he said.

Going ahead, we expect the food prices to stabilise in the coming months and inflation trajectory to soften and stabilise between 4 – 4.5%in the coming months with the improvement in supply chains, said Mr. Jain.
