Brief for the Nominees & Nomination Application Form!


The Himalayan Tourism Samman are aimed at galvanizing the tourism industry in the Himalayan states. The purpose of the Samman is to identify, analyze and reward Sustainable Behavior and Performance. It would be the first of its kind Award/ Samman in the State to honor the Excellence in the Tourism Sector.

This Himalayan Culinary has all that is needed for enriching the tourist's experience. This culinary extravaganza will extend over every aspect of Culinary & Hospitality specific to Himalayan Region with special focus on Uttarakhand cuisine & ingredients. The event will allure visitors and explore the possibilities of satisfying the appetite with the ingredients of the Himalayan origin and thus exploring new dimensions of the array of recipes' for Himalayan Tourists.

The jury will select 5 Finalist teams which will contest live for the 2 categories of Sammans from the kitchens of Mahar Hotel Management Institute, Rajpur Road, Dehradun. However nomination is invited only for the Jury Samman. All the 5 teams will be eligible for the popular choice samman as well which will be based on the feedback of the delegates.

Release of ethics statement!

  1. Each Institute is allowed to have 3 participating teams with 3 students in each teams.
  2. The last date for submitting nomination form with requisite fees of Rs. 50,000/- per institution is 15th August, 2019.
  3. The last date for submission of standard recipes for all dishes is 10th Aug 2019.
  4. A schedule of PHD HITS JURY visit to the respective participating institutions, for the Assessment of the teams for final contest will be circulated by organizing committee by 15th August 2019.
  5. The participants will prepare and present a Starter, Main Course & Dessert specifically from the Himalayan Cuisine (Garhwal, Kumaon, Nepal, Tibet etc.)
  6. The Cuisine prepared by the participants should be authentic.
  7. The equipments and ingredients during the preparation of the dishes shall be provided by the participating Institute.
  8. The participating teams will be adjudged on parameters like Grooming, Hygiene, Presentation, Taste, Concept etc.
  9. The winning categories will include the following:

    • d. First (Best Overall)
    • e. Runners Up
    • f. Popular Choice Samman Winner
    • g. Popular Choice Samman Runners Up Winner
